Are you our next Logistic Support Worker wanting to join us in the NHS?

We are looking for motivated individuals to join our busy multi-functional logistics team who undertake a variety of tasks across the Trust.

Duties may involve working within the linen room (including uniform issues) packing and distributing clean linen to our wards and departments, working within our goods inwards area handling receipt and distribution of ordered items, and/or working in our post room area sorting, distributing and franking letters and parcels.

We use computers and barcode scanners as part of our processes, so a basic understanding of computers is required. We do however provide on the job training and support to all our colleagues.

Please note the role includes the need to manually handle goods safely for significant periods throughout the working shift that may be bulky/heavy, using equipment such as roll cages and pallet trucks, as appropriate.

There is a need to be flexible in working hours and location, as we are University Hospital Dorset merged organisation. You may be required to work cross site.

You may need to work flexibly within a shift pattern, which could include occasional weekend and bank holiday working on a Rota & additional Payment.

Please note if you previously applied and were not successful, we will not be able to reconsider your application within 3 months.

UHD are investing in services across the Trust, with many being transformed and developed following merger and the New Hospital Programme. This means that some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or long term. Recruiting Managers interviewing for this role will be happy to answer any specific questions that you have about this at interview.

Please note if the role or service is relocated as part of a planned move, employees will not be eligible for excess mileage reimbursement. Travel from the postholder's home to the new work base will be considered a normal commute. Any other changes not related to this relocation will be managed according to the relevant Trust or National terms and conditions.

This post is part of the Finance and Business Intelligence Directorate that University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust may transfer to an NHS ‘wholly owned subsidiary’; the proposed date of transfer is October 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to join a developing, expanding, organisation with a strong commitment to NHS values and putting patients first. The NHS wholly owned subsidiary will continue to offer NHS Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions to current employees who transfer in October as well as to new employees recruited after that date.
