Main Purpose of the Role

Working within Perth & Kinross Council is more than a job. It's about being part of an organisation that puts people at the heart of all we do and provides opportunities to make a real difference by enhancing every life we touch.

We currently have the following opportunity:

Class Teacher - Intensive Support Provision (Fixed Term until 16 August 2026) - PKC12727
£33,594 - £50,589
Oakbank Primary School, Perth

The role of a Specialist Class Teacher provides a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to join our team at Oakbank.

This role will be based in our Intensive Support Provision for pupils with complex additional needs.

We are looking for a full-time teacher for our provision (The Treehouse), planning and delivering a sensory based curriculum to a small class of P1-P3 pupils.

Ideally the successful candidate will have experience in this area, however, values, mindset and transferable skills are equally important. In your role you will be leading and working with support staff and a range of multi-agency partners and parents/carers so excellent communication skills are essential.

Visits to the school are actively encouraged. To arrange a visit, please call the school office on 01738 477577.

Skills & Experience Required

We are looking to appoint a nurturing and committed class teacher to join our welcoming school team.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate flexibility and understanding of approaches to meet a range of complex learner needs. The individual appointed will be able to listen to and be responsive to learner needs.

You should be able to demonstrate a range of teaching skills, qualities and enthusiasm to further develop and build on the valuable learner experiences within our Intensive Support Provision. You will be committed to continually enhancing knowledge and skills through working collegiately and through CPD.

The ability to work as part of the team is essential. The successful candidate will join a dedicated team at Oakbank who are committed to providing an excellent education for all young people and promote an ethos of inclusion.

You will have a relevant teaching qualification.

Working at Perth & Kinross Council

We have a vision of a confident and ambitious Perth and Kinross, to which everyone can contribute and all can share.

Our values and behaviours influence our work and support us in the delivery of our key priorities. In your application, and should you be invited to interview, you will be asked to describe situations that support the criteria required in the role and which also demonstrate our values and behaviours. Find out more about Perth & Kinross Council and you could soon be joining our team!

Here's what we can offer you:

  • A nationally agreed annual leave entitlement

  • Family friendly and positive work/life balance policies such as Flexible Working, Maternity, Paternity & Adoption leave, and our Wellbeing Framework
  • Access to a range of benefits

We recognise there can be benefits to flexible working and where individual jobs allow, we seek to support this. You are encouraged to discuss potential options with the recruiting manager, if this is of interest to you. A healthy work life balance is important to us and we provide supportive management and, where possible, flexible working arrangements to help you achieve that balance. You will have access to training and support for continued professional development.
