Location: Based in or able to travel daily to the Watergate PCN area (informal base in Newquay or County Hall, Truro)
Contract Type: Full-time, 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 08:00–18:00)

About the Role

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Social Worker to join our adult social care team covering the Watergate Primary Care Network (PCN) in Mid Cornwall. This is a frontline role working with vulnerable adults in the community, often in partnership with health professionals and other agencies.

The team operates primarily from an informal base in Newquay or from County Hall in Truro, but this is a community-based post and you must be able to travel daily to locations across the Watergate PCN area.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality social work services to adults in line with statutory responsibilities and best practice.
• Complete Mental Capacity Assessments (MCA) and Best Interest decisions.
• Carry out safeguarding enquiries, including self-neglect interventions.
• Where required, complete Court of Protection applications and attend hearings.
• Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure holistic, person-centred care.
• Promote independence, prevention, and reablement through effective care planning and support.
• Ensure the views of individuals and carers are central to all decision-making processes.

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England (SWE).
• Proven experience working with adults in a statutory social care setting.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, MCA, Best Interest decision-making, and the legal frameworks underpinning adult social care.
• Excellent communication and partnership working skills.
• Must be based within travel distance of the Watergate PCN area or have the ability to travel daily as required.
