Job Title: Laboratory Technician
Location: Redditch
Salary: £26,000 – £32,000 (DOE)
Hours: 4-day week | Monday to Thursday, 06:00 – 16:00
We’re hiring a reliable and detail-focused Laboratory Technician to join our Redditch-based team within the Test Piece Machining Division. This role is primarily lab-based but includes some shop floor involvement, especially for collecting and analysing process solutions.
Candidates with experience in manual machining—such as manual lathes, milling machines, bandsaws, and Fanuc-controlled CNC lathes—will be preferred, as this supports the division’s operational needs.
After training, you’ll be expected to work independently, follow strict procedures, and deliver results to tight deadlines.
Key ResponsibilitiesLab & Technical Duties

Perform chemical testing (e.g., titrations, pH measurement, sugar content).

Conduct hydrogen and copper sulphate testing.

Prepare and standardise chemical solutions.

Calibrate and maintain lab equipment.

Analyse trends in solution quality and report findings.
Operational Support
-
Liaise with on-site chemical service providers.

Assist HSE and contribute to audits.

Maintain accurate lab records and input data via LIMS.

Support stock control and housekeeping.

Cross-train across lab functions and perform ad hoc tasks.
Machining Involvement
-
Support the test piece machining area as needed.

Operate or assist with manual machining tasks (lathes, mills, bandsaws, CNC).
Skills & ExperienceEssential:
-
Experience with chemical titrations and solution preparation.

Equipment calibration knowledge.
-
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Confident with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Desirable:

Familiarity with NADCAP or ISO 17025 lab environments.

Experience with manual machining and/or Fanuc CNC lathes.

Training will be provided for suitable applicants.
