CPS - South East is delighted to advertise the role of Advocacy Clerking Manager.
This is an exciting, stakeholder-focused leadership role in which you will manage a team of Clerking Assistants within the Crown Advocacy Unit, playing a key part in supporting the CPS’s Advocacy Strategy.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Clerking Team, including performance oversight and stakeholder engagement. Additionally, you will oversee the management of Internal Crown Advocates’ diaries, ensuring that fee savings are maximised.
Your roles and responsibilities
Responsibility for the timely briefing of in-house KCs, Principal Crown Advocates, Senior Crown Advocates and Crown Advocates in line with the Crown Advocate Progression Framework and CPS briefing principles.
To mentor newly appointed Advocacy Clerking Assistants.
To support the development needs and training, of Crown Advocates, by way of the provision buddying and shadowing opportunities, and assist the Legal Crown Advocacy Manager in ensuring standards are met.
Draft and present performance reports for local governance meetings.
To influence local criminal justice stakeholders on a range of CPS and cross- CJS initiatives, using digital briefing tools and reporting to inform discussions.
