Automotive Engineer, Devon £50,000 - £54,000 Circa + Benefits
Unknown Resourcing is looking for an experienced Automotive Engineer for our leading R&D Engineering client based in East Devon, we are seeking an Automotive Engineer with extensive experience of Automotive systems, including design, operation and a passion for all things mechanical. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of vehicle design, analysis and testing to influence new options for future designs. These will include drive line, cooling, suspension including hydraulics and pneumatics, and control designs.
Although not workshop based the successful applicant will be “hands-on” and supervise their designs from concept to delivery to the customer.
Automotive Engineer Responsibilities
Produce innovative Automotive designs centred on functionality, simplicity and economy
Advise Mechanical engineers on integrating Automotive systems into designs.
Use a good base understanding of mechanical and automotive engineering and related design principals to rapidly develop suitable designs, avoiding multiple design / analysis / prototype iterations and associated rework.
Design and create models and drawings using 3D CAD software to a defined specification and standard within the hours specified for the task.
Automotive (primarily) and other sector component and assembly design from concept to production standard using 3D CAD (Solidworks).
Design components to include sheet metal, turned / machined, cast items, small and large fabrications, including manufacturing and through life support considerations
Maintain accurate design records and maintain drawing issue control.
Use the PDM system to store and issue drawings.
Revise or amend existing designs and drawings to meet new requirements
Work with Senior Engineers, Project Engineers and other team members to provide the best design outcomes for stakeholders across the business.
Liaise with Automotive suppliers in order to source new components and manage obsolescence issues.
