We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant for an immediate start, to work 1:1 with a child who has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) within a supportive school environment. This role requires a compassionate individual who has prior experience working with children who have autism, ideally within Key Stage 2.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Provide tailored support to a child with ASD, ensuring they engage effectively in lessons and school activities.
- Work closely with the classroom teacher to implement educational and behavioural strategies that support the child's learning and social development.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Monitor and support the child's progress, adapting approaches as needed to suit their educational and emotional needs.
- Facilitate communication between the child, teachers, and parents to ensure a cohesive approach to the child's education and wellbeing.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for the child.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience working with children who have Autism, essential.
- Experience within KS2 is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong understanding of the needs and educational strategies for children with ASD.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A patient, caring, and professional approach to supporting learning.
