Please note in regards to the location of this role, this is a peripatetic role, it will not be based in the exact location of the postcode that has been advertised but will be based within Southern England with a mixture of remote working from home and a local Salvation Army site, regular travel will be required across Dorset, Hampshire, Isle of Wight & Wiltshire with occasional travel over a wider area encompassing Central & Southern England, Wales & Channel Islands.Working hours: Minimum 35 hours per weekInterview Date: To be confirmedJOB SUMMARY:The Salvation Army Regional Team are looking for an Assistant Regional Accountant to join their team. The role will be to assist the Regional Team in the provision of business support to an allocated portfolio of corps (Churches) and divisional leaders to ensure financial control and effective decision making.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:To assist in supporting and guiding corps officers, finance locals and corps in their respective fiscal management responsibilitiesTo work with corps to prepare budgets, forecasts, and longer-term financial plansTo undertake financial monitoring visits to corps periodically depending on the level of support needed and level of riskTo monitor corps budgets, investigate variances and alert the Field Accountant and divisional leaders of matters of concernTo monitor and report on the performance of charity shops, cafes, and similar activities of the corpsTo monitor mission support allocated to corps and report to the Regional Accountant to ensure that planned mission outcomes are being achievedTo assist in ensuring corps adhere to the finance procedures.THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE:Experience of working with and explaining finance issues with non-finance personnelExperience in the role of management accountingWilling to travel as required to visit corps (A driving Licence is essential for this role)Good organisational, team-working, oral, written communication skills and inter-personal skillsPart qualified CCAB/CIMA accountantAble to work within The SA’s Christian ethos and key values: integrity; accountability; compassion; passion; boldness and respectAbility to be flexibleCustomer focusIn order to complete your application please download and read the job profile and any other attachments.In the job profile you will find the criteria required for the role please make sure that you address this in your supporting statement as this forms the basis of our shortlisting.Appointment subject to satisfactory references, proof of right to work in the UK, Driving Licence and relevant qualifications.
