The primary purpose of the role is to contribute to improved education, training and employment outcomes for children and young people open to the service. Through providing support, advice & guidance to children & young people, as well as other professionals within the team, around education, training and employment opportunities the role helps to overcome any barriers that may be affecting a child or young person to achieve their full potential. This includes directly supporting young people in custody and ensuring there are appropriate ETE plans in place as part of their resettlement plan.

The ETE Worker ensures there are strategic links and protocols in place between the service, the education department, training providers and act as a direct link and single point of contact for effective communication between all parties. It is therefore essential that the individual maintains up to date knowledge of developments in the field of education, training and employment.

About You

You will have knowledge of the issues, particularly around education, training and employment, which impact children & families, and which can lead to engaging in offending behaviour, Additional training will be provided.

You will have the ability to communicate effectively with young people both individually and in a group setting and be able to motivate them to engage in identified suitable education, training and employment opportunities.
