Building Standards Surveyor
Waverley Court
Salary: £37,626 - £44,257
Hours: 36 per week, 52 weeks
We are looking for experienced and motivated individuals to fill the role of Building Standards Surveyor and help us drive forward our programme to continually reshape our services in response to demands.
Edinburgh is a dynamic and growing city and we process around 5000 building warrants a year. We aim to provide a seamless development consent process with close collaboration between professionals in different service areas.
Our Building Standards service is continuing with our change programme to help make it fit for the future and be fully able to support the significant growth Edinburgh faces in the years ahead. We are developing new ways of working and want to enhance our relationship with our customers.
You would be responsible for processing building warrants and supporting Senior Building Standards Surveyors in their activities as well as supporting Assistant Building Standards and Modern Apprentice Surveyors in their development. With this opportunity, comes a range of the most interesting Building Standards surveying work in Scotland.
You would be expected to deliver improvement projects for the service which help us maintain high levels of performance and customer satisfaction.
We are working in a hybrid way at this time and those who are able to work from home will be permitted to do so, as and when necessary.
If you are interested, you should bring a range of experience, a strong sense of customer service, excellent communication skills, a clear understanding of quality assurance and an appetite for project delivery and continuous improvement.
If successful, a reference may be required.
We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.
As part of our goal to improve our organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure that we're bringing the best people into our roles, not just in their skills and experience but also in their approach to work.
To help achieve this, we're changing the way we interview and assess candidates by moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach. This new way of interviewing will allow us to assess how you think and how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility into your ways of working.
You can find out more on Our Behaviours web page https://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/work-us/behaviours" target="_blank">Our Behaviours - The City of Edinburgh Council
Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
Happy to talk flexible working.
