This post is based within the Advice Shop where the successful candidate will work to promote financial inclusion and alleviate poverty through advice and advocacy in the areas of welfare benefits/appeals, money/budgeting, housing and energy advice.
The post holder will work with a range of partners, including local schools to offer targeted support to families and young people who are affected by poverty or financial insecurity through holistic advice and support to maximise income and promote financial wellbeing.
The successful candidate will work closely with key partners to deliver poverty awareness training, organise information events and deliver talks & presentations to relevant groups.
The post holder should also have a high level of research and analytical skills. Experience in providing advice in the areas of money/debt, benefits, energy or housing advice is essential. Experience in organising events and delivering training desirable.
This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council
