Applications are welcome for a full time (10PA), substantive Deputy Medical Director at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

This is a key post to support the Medical Director providing Clinical Leadership across the organisation.It is anticipated that the post holder will provide system leadership for mental and physical health, developing relationships with key partners along with the Medical Director.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.



The post holder will work closely with the Medical Director and Associate Medical Directors. Other key relationships will be with the Director of Medical Education, Chief Clinical Information Officer, Chief Psychological Professions Officer, Chief Pharmacist and the Director of Research.

The deputy medical director post will hold responsibility for patient safety (2 days), wider across the medical portfolio to be agreed yearly including Integrated Improvement Plan responsibilities (2 days) and 1 day of clinical work to be agreed.

The deputy medical director will also provide day to day line management of the CCIO, CPPO, Chief Pharmacist and Head of Research, supported by the Medical Director.

Strategic planning and service delivery

· Working with strategic partners to deliver the ambitions of the Trust.

· Strategic planning and decision making to deliver the Trust Clinical Plan and Transformational Change programme.

· Leading the changes in clinical service delivery required to implement the service strategy.

Governance

· Ensuring appropriate systems and support are in place for Clinical Governance activity within the service and clinical practice takes account of the evidence base, clinical outcomes, national standards and guidance and NICE implementation guidance through chairing Clinical effectiveness Group.

· Responsible for supporting respective leads for Learning from Deaths, Mental Health Act to produce assurance through Quality Forum, Incident review meetings for the Quality and Safety Committee.

Medical Line Management

· Providing leadership and line management for the CCIO, CPPO, Chief Pharmacist and Head of Research.

· Supporting the Medical Director and Revalidation Lead with professional capability and conduct issues in relation to medical staff, following required processes as laid down by the Trust and professional regulation bodies.

· Deputising for the Medical Director as required.
