Join our amazing team of Difference Makers in Carmarthenshire as a Floating Support Worker, a great opportunity working with people who have experience of the criminal justice system and offending behaviour. This is a part-time (24hrs), permanent position.

What is great about the role?

Our team at Furnace Banc work with and support people over 25 who have experience of the criminal justice system and offending behaviour. We offer a space for clients to develop by creating an atmosphere that allows positive change.

As a Floating Support Worker, you will be working within the offender hubs. You will inspire, challenge and enable the people we support to lead successful and independent lives. We need you to work flexibly as part of the team to develop, implement and review high-quality person-centred support plans based on individual needs, preferences and aspirations.

How can I make a difference?

Joining our Floating Support team will give you the opportunity to learn and grow within the support sector. You will work with talented and experienced people whose passion is to support our clients into independent living and reduce the likely hood of re-offending.

Your day will consist of:

Motivate and encourage clients to participate in the community and to promote life and social skills.
Provide housing related support to enable clients to take on and/or sustain a tenancy to prevent homelessness wither within their own homes or within our accommodation based service
Provide information and advice and support them in the pre and post tenancy stages of their resettlement.
Carry a caseload of clients with a variety of differing needs and levels of need, depending on their situation.
To liaise and work closely with other agencies and professionals with regard to clients’ support needs e.g. Probation, Social Services, DWP, Social Landlords, Lettings Agencies etc.
Help with potential benefits, register with healthcare providers
Maximise support, plan and deliver workshops, including Agored qualifications
Carry out all necessary administrative tasks in relation to the job: ensuring all client file notes, support plans and risk assessments are kept up to date.

Our aim is to ensure we equip these individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to live independently. This is a challenging role as this service delivers intensive support around each client’s recovery before focus is put on the housing related support and you will be faced with complex behaviours and needs, including alcohol misuse, mental health, substance misuse, anti-social behaviour and offending behaviour.

This opportunity can be a steppingstone to a rewarding career in support. You will act as a first point of contact and a role model. You’ll be able to build on existing skills and knowledge to help the people we support gain independence into their own accommodation. It’s a unique and exciting project where you will be a part of something special.
