About the Employer

I am both the service user and employer and I am currently seeking to employ a PA to support me with both social and domestic duties in the home: Cooking, cleaning, tidying up and some ironing, as well as companionship and support to attend appointments and engage in social activities in my local community. I have a number of health conditions such as back injury/slipped disc, Celiac Disease, bone and bowel disease which impacts on both my physical well being and mental health. There are days where I am often unable to get out of bed due to pain and as such find it difficult to manage some of the basic tasks within my home. My mobility is affected, and I use a walking stick or crutches to move around when able and require a padded donut cushion when travelling and sitting in one place. I have some mobility issues. Whilst I am able to walk independently, at times this is limited and restrictive. I have restricted arm and leg movements which can at times range from minimal to significant discomfort during the day and night and to manage this have strong pain killers or pain relief gel, which I would require my PA to support administering to parts of my body I am unable to reach, back shoulders etc.: Due to these issues, my mental health is greatly impacted as I often feel down and lack confidence and motivation. I suffer Panic attacks which can be significant, affecting my ability to self-regulate so my PA would be required to assist in calming me, holding my hand, rubbing my back and providing reassurance to help soothe those situations. I am seeking a PA who can become an integral part of my family, to support and assist me both personally and around the home. Someone with a calm, caring nature and an understanding of the issues I face due to the conditions I am living with.

Duties will include:

• Preparing meals
• Assisting me with the administering of prescribed creams
• To assist with light housework duties e.g. washing dishes, general tidying and hoovering and ironing
• Engaging me in social activities and assistance to access my local community
• Assistance to appointments I am looking for a personal assistant who has flexibility and experience in the care sector.

The candidate should show initiative and enthusiasm and have a good sense of humour and ability to provide calm when I suffer a panic attack. I am looking for someone who has flexibility, is reliable and committed to providing consistency and care. Someone who is able to speak Punjabi, Urdu or hindi would be an advantage but not essential.
