JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Level 3 Childcare Practitioner with Setting Based SEN Responsibilities
SALARY SCALE: Dependant on Experience
HOURS: Part Time. 37.5 Hours a week. 8am until 4pm Monday to Friday. Term Time Only.
PURPOSE OF JOB:
The role of the Level 3 practitioner is to provide a safe and secure environment, ensuring that a high quality provision is provided for all children that come into your care. The practitioner must fulfil/comply with all legal and statutory requirements, contribute to and implement organisational policies and procedures. They should be able to provide appropriate information and support for parents/carers and work in partnership with other agencies and professionals. Level 3 practitioners will support the planning and implementation of the EYFS within the nursery and will be able to observe, assess and plan for children’s individual development. They will be responsible for maintaining a safe, clean and healthy environment for the children attending the nursery.
Accountable to: Deputy Manager, Manager, Area Manager
Duties and Responsibilities
Health and Safety
· To implement LCSG Health & Safety policies and procedures.
· To ensure that the nursery is a safe environment for children and adults.
Safeguarding
· To be responsible for the implementation of LCSG Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy in line with the EYFS Welfare Requirements.
· To take responsibility for your continued professional development to ensure that you have the knowledge and ability to respond to, and identify, all types of abuse.
Special Educational Needs
Identify children that potentially have additional needs.
Observing and supporting children that have been identified as having an additional need.
Ensure that relevant paperwork is completed by parents / carer to allow observations and monitoring of the child's needs and behaviour.
To support and advise Key Workers other staff etc. as appropriate, in how to include children’s needs in the setting.
To liaise with the LCSG SEN Lead, also future settings and schools including assessment centres, Children and Family Centres etc. Liaising with the Area SENCOs, Pre-school Education Team Teachers / Educational Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, etc.
To arrange, organise and review support for individual children.
To support the writing and review of individual children’s Increased Differentiation plans & Special Education Needs plans termly or as appropriate.
To ensure that the appropriate monitoring forms are completed within the setting with regards to additional funding that may have been gained in order to support a child within the setting for example ISEY funding.
Communication
· To carry out all policies and procedures for communication with parents/carers/families of children within LCSG.
· To be aware of, and implement, confidentiality and data protection policies and procedures.
· To be aware of, and implement, online and social media policies and procedures.
· To complete all paperwork to a good standard.
Integrated Working
· To work with all LCSG staff, volunteers and Board of directors.
· To work with all outside agencies as required by LCSG, following policies and procedures.
Early Years Foundation Stage
· To ensure the implementation of the LCSG EYFS policy and procedures.
· To help develop policies and procedures in line with LCSG management requests.
· To carry out observations and document all child assessment and keep children’s folders/information up to date.
· To have knowledge and understanding of the EYFS and be able to effectively lead practice.
Code of Conduct
· To implement all policies and produces for professional practice within LCSG.
· All staff are required to work across settings.
· All staff will participate in peer observation/evaluation.
· All staff will attend and partake in supervision on a regular basis.
To undertake any other duties appropriate to the nature of the post. To undergo training as required by the Longbridge Childcare Strategy Group Board.
HEALTH & SAFETY
It is the duty of everyone whilst at work to take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and others who may be affected by their acts and omissions, and to co-operate with his/her employer so far as is necessary to enable them to carry out their duties.
CHILD PROTECTION / SAFE GUARDING CHILDREN
All members of staff must be committed to preventing abuse of all children in line with our Child Protection Policy and Safeguarding Children Procedure. In the event of any member of staff being implicated in any way in a case of child abuse, that person will be risk assessed which may lead to them being suspended with immediate effect, until an investigation has been carried out.
RESPONSIBILITY
It is your responsibility to ensure that Health & Safety and environmental risks are adequately assessed and controlled in respect of your own job and those of other staff.
OTHER DETAILS
The jobholder will be expected to work from any premises made available by the Board of Directors in the course of his/her duties. (An allowance will be made for travel expenses incurred in the course of Strategy Group business).
