What skills and experience we're looking for
Are you passionate about supporting young learners with special educational needs? Our friendly and inclusive primary schoolis looking for a caring and experienced Special Needs Teacherto join our dedicated team for three or four mornings a week.
You will plan and lead sessions in our Discovery Room– a calm, specially resourced space designed to meet the needs of pupils working significantly below age-related expectations, but who do not present with complex behavioural needs. The room is set up to provide a nurturing, small-group learning environment where children can access a more personalised curriculum focused on early literacy, numeracy, and communication skills delivered through play and discovery.
This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape the learning journey of children who need a little extra support to shine.
The Role Will Include:
• Delivering tailored support and differentiated lessons to children with a range of special educational needs.
• Be involved in the development of the Discovery Room and its environment.
• Working closely with class teachers and the SENCO to implement EHCPs and individual learning plans, ensuring a continuity between the work they do in the room and what they take back to do in class (tasks or activities).
• Creating a positive, structured, and engaging environment that helps children build confidence and make progress at their own pace.
We’re Looking for Someone Who:
• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Has experience working with primary-aged children with special educational needs.
• Is patient, nurturing, and passionate about helping every child reach their full potential.
• Can work effectively as part of a team, with good communication and organisational skills.
What the school offers its staff
We Offer:
• A welcoming and supportive staff team.
• A well-resourced learning environment.
• Opportunities for continued professional development.
• A rewarding role where you’ll truly make a difference.
