About the Role

The Rochdale Additional Needs Service (RANS) is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, skilled and versatile Habilitation Specialist. You must be willing and able to work with settings and families across the Borough to support children and young people with Vision Impairment (VI).

Based at Number One Riverside, as part of Rochdale Additional Needs Service (RANS) Sensory Team, you will work in a multi-disciplinary environment with colleagues within Children’s Services as well as other professionals. You must be passionate about and committed to the inclusion of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, and be able to inspire others to share your high expectations of and aspirations for our pupils.

The successful candidate will work with a variety of children and/or young people peripatetically across the Borough, assessing and developing mobility, navigation and independent living skills. You may also work directly with pre-school children and their parents for those not yet in a setting.

This role will include working within a team of specialist Teachers of vision impairment and specialist support assistants.

It should be noted that the successful candidate will need to be able to work in a variety of contexts, transport themselves and some equipment around the Borough and be able to use a variety of specialist equipment with the children and young people they are supporting.
