Are you a passionate English Teacher with experience supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

Are you committed to making a real difference in the lives of students who need additional support to thrive?

TeacherActive is proud to be working in partnership with a specialist secondary provision based in Wigan. This nurturing and inclusive setting provides tailored education for students aged 11–16 who have SEMH needs and require support with managing challenging behaviours. The school promotes a trauma-informed approach, helping students to re-engage with learning in a safe and structured environment.

We are currently seeking a resilient and dedicated English Teacher to join the team from September 2025. This role is ideal for someone who is motivated by the opportunity to inspire and support students who may have become disengaged from mainstream education.

The role will involve:

  • Planning and delivering engaging English lessons to small groups of students with SEMH needs

  • Adapting teaching strategies to meet individual learning and emotional needs

  • Managing behaviour in a consistent, calm, and supportive manner

  • Working collaboratively with support staff, parents/carers, and external professionals

  • Encouraging student progress in both academic and personal development

To be considered for this role, you will need:

    • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification

    • Experience working with young people with SEMH needs and/or challenging behaviour

    • A strong understanding of trauma-informed and inclusive teaching practices

    • The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students

    • A commitment to promoting student wellbeing and resilience

This is a highly rewarding opportunity to be part of a passionate team in a setting that truly makes a difference. The school provides excellent support and values staff who go the extra mile to help their learners succeed.

      Why work with TeacherActive?

      • A dedicated consultant offering personalised support

      • Access to CPD and professional development opportunities

      • Competitive daily rates and guaranteed pay schemes

      • Opportunities for long-term and permanent placements

        How to apply:
