A Vacancy at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the medical team working in the Acute Medicine Unit, Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) and Ambulatory care Unit (ACC) at Queens Hospital, Burton on Trent.
Aimed at doctors who want to gain further experience and confidence in acute and general medicine, this post will provide an excellent opportunity to strengthen your clinical skills and to work closely with consultant physicians from various sub-specialties on the SDEC/ACC. Our reshaped services will provide the Clinical Fellows with a strong sense of teamwork, pride and opportunities for professional development. These posts are all at the interface between primary and secondary care, and require excellent communication skills.
The post holder will be expected to be part of the Medicine Middle Grade rota which is a full shift on-call rota including prospective cover for annual, study and bank holiday leave. A prospective cover allowance of approximately 2 hours per week is incorporated in to the job plan.
You will support the nursing team, other middle grade doctors, junior medical staff and the Consultant Physician on MAU/ACC.

• Last year we undertook almost 33,700 planned surgical operations in our 57 operating theatres.
• We are one of only 7 Trusts nationally with more than 50 operating theatres.
• We carry out more than 140 elective procedures each working day.
Key tasks of this role are:-
- Provision of medical care to the SDEC/ACC & Acute Medicine services.
- Assessment and management of patients on SDEC/ACC.
- Active participation in Clinical Governance, audit & teaching activities.
- Administrative tasks for the services.
- Keeping up to date with guidelines, protocols and clinical skills
- Participating in CME & CPD
- Participation in annual appraisal & job planning
- Working flexibly across SDEC and ACC
Applicants must also be eligible to work in the UK and have excellent skills in written and spoken English, adequate to enable highly effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues.
