About us
Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice is in the heart of Headingley, Leeds. We provide expert palliative care at a time when people need this the most. We support you when you are living with a life-limiting condition, and also help your loved ones and family.
We support people aged 18 and over who are living with life-limiting conditions such as cancer, heart failure and lung disease by combining specialist medical care for managing pain and other symptoms with other emotional, practical and spiritual support.
We are able to provide care in our inpatient unit and our CNS team are on hand to visit people and provide care for people in their own home.
About the Role
This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You will be working in a supportive team where everybody is working to provide the very best service for our patients.
The main purpose of this role is to assist in the provision of meals and refreshments, as well as the maintenance and cleaning of kitchen equipment.
Other duties include but are not limited to:
Maintaining a clean working environment in line with cleaning schedules
• Documenting and recording all information such as food temperatures and routine cleaning.
• To ensure that meals and refreshments are attractive to service user

• Have previous experience in a similar role, ideally within a hospice or health and social care setting
• A positive, team-focused attitude and a commitment to high standards of service
• Have a Level 2 food hygiene certificate or willing and able to complete within 2 weeks of starting employment
• Have prior experience working in catering in a hospital/care setting is highly desirable.
• Be able to work as part of a team
• Be able to communicate verbally and in writing
