The Role
The British Racing & Sports Car Club (BRSCC) is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to take full ownership of our day-to-day finance operations. As the sole finance lead within the organisation, you will be responsible for managing all core financial processes, ensuring compliance, and supporting the senior team with timely reporting and analysis.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong accounting skills who thrives in a standalone role and enjoys variety and responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee all aspects of the finance function, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, payroll processing, and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasts, and year-end financial statements.
• Process purchase invoices, staff and volunteer expenses, and maintain an accurate purchase ledger.
• Manage weekly payment runs and ensure timely reconciliation of accounts.
• Submit quarterly VAT returns, P11D information, and ensure compliance with PAYE, NIC, Corporation Tax, and other statutory requirements.
• Support monthly payroll checks, handle payroll queries, and manage the workplace pension scheme.
• Provide the business with technical support and guidance across finance, tax, payroll, and pension matters.
• Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and monitor changes to tax or employment legislation.
• Lead post-event financial reconciliations, including rebate and income share calculations.
• Liaise with external accountants and auditors, assisting with the preparation of year-end accounts.
• Undertake additional finance-related tasks as required.
What We’re Looking For
• AAT qualified (minimum), with proven experience in a similar finance or accounts role.
• Strong understanding of UK accounting practices and tax regulations.
• Proficient in Xero and Microsoft Excel.
• A meticulous and organised approach with a keen eye for detail.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• A proactive, hands-on team player with a commitment to continuous improvement.
