Summary

In addition to the main Registered Nurse Job description and person specification (which is a generic document) it is essential that all applicants to this position:- Have the physical ability to perform the full range of nursing duties which in this post includes wearing Radiological (x ray) protection (Lead Apron / Tunic) as this is a radiology area. Are able to work on-call according to roster after appropriate training and induction. KEY RESULT AREAS Delivery of effective health care within the organisation Perform comprehensive assessments of patients nursing needs and plan, implement and evaluate care delivery according to changing healthcare needs. Take responsibility for the care needs of individuals and groups of patients. Collect, collate and fully accurately report patient information, maintaining accurate, complete and contemporaneous nursing records. Involve patients and carers/relatives in the planning and delivery of care. Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure needs are met in relation to care input, support for ongoing care needs and safe discharge. Establish and maintain effective communication with patients and carers/relatives. Recognise, prioritise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations. Establishing effective leadership and communication Co-ordinate, organise and prioritise the work of the nursing team on a day-to-day basis. Supervise others and participate in their education and development. Where appropriate, act as a mentor/expert witness. Contribute to the development of services, new ways of working and the implementation of change. Act as a professional and clinical role model to all staff, patients, carers and the public at all times. Maintain effective and efficient communication with the Ward/Unit Manager and members of the multi-disciplinary team on issues related to patient care and organisation of nursing teams.
