Working in our YMCA Community & Activity Village in Newark, we are looking for a full time Domestic Manager to lead the domestic
team. The successful candidate will work alongside the Grounds & Maintenance Manager and be line managed by the Head of Facility
Operations.
This role will be a 37.5 hour per week role working on a 2 week rotation. Week 1 would be Mon – Fri 7am until 3pm, Week 2 would
be Tues – Fri 2pm – 10pm & Sat 8.30am – 4.30pm.
This is a broad hands-on role covering all aspects of the Village which comprises a Nursery, Café and Conferencing suite, Gym,
Climbing Centre, Dance and Art Studios as well as a Business Centre and an Education & Training Centre. As the Domestic Manager
you will be responsible for leading and guiding the domestic team to ensure the above areas are cleaned daily and / or when
necessary. This process with follow a schedule of works which you will be expected to set and regularly re-evaluate to ensure
service demands are constantly met and standards are high whilst maintaining budget control as determined by the Head of Facility
Operations.
On a day-to-day basis you will:
* Lead the team and shift by example to ensure relevant areas are cleaned in a consistently good and timely fashion.
* Manage and set staff rotas ensuring budget constraints are adhered to whilst meeting service demands.
* Manage stock control of all cleaning supplies whilst staying within budget constraints.
* Be responsible for COSHH and ensure domestic staff are COSHH trained.
* Set the standard for cleaning areas throughout the Village and ensure other team members meet this standard consistently.
* Work with the Grounds & Maintenance manager to bind the wider Facilities Team in a flexible and collaborative manner.
* Manage a regular deep clean programme including carpets & upholstery.
* Hold the domestic team accountable for their work whilst providing a guiding and helpful manner throughout the shift.
* Be flexible and reactive to out of the ordinary Village demands.
* Create & manage a cleaning audit process throughout all departments.
* Line manage the domestic staff team.
* Carry out 121s, appraisals and team meetings as appropriate.
* Recruit domestic team members as appropriate, relevant to service demands and following budget constraints.
As a frontline member of our team, you will be working in the Village alongside our visitors, guests, and other members of YMCA
staff. You will be a friendly and approachable member of the team, happy to help in any way you can.
Every day, you will follow the safe use and practices of all cleaning machinery, equipment, adhering to Health & Fire Safety
practices with specific attention to:
* COSHH
* Infection Control
* SHARPS & Bodily Fluid Equipment
We will provide you with all the equipment and cleaning items required and full training will be given.
About You
We are looking for someone with naturally high standard of cleanliness who enjoys cleaning and loves being busy. You will be happy
leading and working within a team, dividing up all the jobs to be completed that shift but able to work to your own too. You will
be driven and aspirational, happy to motivate and empower your team to be the best team that they can be with high standards and
pride in their work.
We are open to your background but require experience in cleaning, either in a domestic or commercial setting. Most important to
us is your passion and commitment to join and lead our team.
