Hours: Permanent/ Apprenticeship/ Inc. part time education

37.5 hrs per week for age 21 and under

40 Hours per week for over the age of 21

Salary/Rate From £15,000 - £19,700 dependent on ages, and course level (All college fees will be paid by Align Property Services)

Align Property Services is looking for a driven individual, eager to learn and committed to a career in finance and accounting, to join our team in Northallerton as an Apprentice Accounting Technician.

You will receive full training, and it is expected that you will achieve a Level 3 / 4 AAT through day-release to college, which will compromise of a mix of both online and onsite required attendance.

As an Apprentice Accounting Technician, you will:

You will develop your skills and gain hands-on experience in key areas of accounting. As part of your training, you will learn bookkeeping, including how to maintain accurate financial records and reconcile accounts in line with accounting standards. You will assist in Final Accounts Preparation, helping to compile year-end financial statements such as profit and loss accounts and balance sheets. Training will also cover Management Accounting: Costing, where you’ll explore cost analysis, reporting, and support budgeting processes. You’ll gain practical knowledge of Indirect Tax, including the preparation of VAT returns and understanding tax compliance. A strong emphasis will be placed on Ethics for Accountants, ensuring you uphold integrity and professionalism in all financial activities. Additionally, you will develop proficiency in Spreadsheets for Accounting, using tools like Excel to analyse data, build financial models, and streamline reporting tasks.

Essential requirements:

Minimum 5 GCSE Grades A-C/5-9 including Maths and English
To be eligible for the Level 4, you will have already obtained a Diploma in Accounting Level 3 or PE1
Be willing to undertake the part time Level 3/4 AAT course
Good IT proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office.
Good communication skills both written and verbal.
Driving Licence or willing/working towards obtaining a UK Driving Licence
As part of the interview process, the successful candidate will be asked to attend a separate interview at the chosen college to confirm suitability for the role and to determine your understanding of the expectations associated with the apprenticeship standard.

About the Qualification:

You will obtain a Level 3/4 AAT qualification that will compromise of AAT modules, each of which will be assessed by an end of module exam. At the end of the course, you will complete an End of Point Assessment, which usually consists of a synoptic assessment, portfolio of work and a reflective discussion.
