Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher status, or working towards it, as defined by the Department for Education. (E)
• Evidence of further professional development (post initial training), if appropriate. (D) Experience
• Evidence of recent and successful class teaching of primary age pupils. (E)
• Excellent understanding of current theory and practice in teaching and learning, particularly as it relates to achieving high rates of progress for children of primary age. (E)
• Demonstrable record of raising achievement. (E)
• Sound understanding and knowledge of effective assessment strategies. (E)
• Excellent knowledge of the primary curriculum. (E)
• Understanding of effective strategies for maintaining high standards of discipline in accordance with the school’s policy. (E)
• An understanding of equality of opportunity issues and how they can be addressed in schools. (E)
• Recent, relevant experience of using technology to support learning in the classroom. (E)
• Well-developed oral and written skills. (E)
• An interest in current pedagogical research and ideas. (D)
• The ability to work as part of a team which includes planning and implementing the curriculum. (D)
• The ability to relate to and communicate effectively with parents and carers and to encourage their active participation in the educational process. (D)
• Ability to make a significant contribution to a school ethos that promotes high achievement. (D)
• A personal commitment to meet the national Teachers’ Standards. (D)
