As a receptionist you have a very important role to play in helping us to provide the best possible care for our patients, as you are the first contact with the patient. Good general practice depends on team work and you are a valid member of the team. You are responsible for much of the day-to-day organisation of the practice and all other workers in the practice depend on your efficiency. Why Care Navigators are important The reception patients receive when they come to the practice has a strong influence on how they think about us, talk about us, and relate to us in the future. Patients who think of us as being caring and thoughtful are likely to be less demanding and more tolerant of our shortcomings. Receptionists have the difficult task of satisfying the demands of patients while at the same time running the surgeries to the satisfaction of the Doctors. Keeping parties happy needs patience, skill, maturity and understanding. It also needs support from the Doctors, and appropriate training.
