Vacancy for KS1 Learning Support Assistant
Scale: ME4 Pt 4
Salary: FTE £28,125 Pro Rata £18,724 (Actual Salary)
Hours: 27.5 hours per week. Term - time only.
Starting: September 2025
Contract: 1 Year contract in the first instance.
We are seeking a calm, nurturing and resilient Learning Support Assistant to work with a lovely pupil who presents with attachment difficulties and ADHD in KS1.
The successful candidate will build a positive, trusting relationship with the child, supporting them to feel safe, valued, and ready to engage in learning.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide clear consistent support and boundaries within and outside the classroom, and during unstructured times.
• Support the child’s emotional regulation and promote positive behaviour.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to deliver tailored strategies and interventions.
• Foster a calm, predictable learning environment to reduce anxiety and encourage engagement.
• Model and encourage social skills, resilience, and independence.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
• Be patient, calm and emotionally attuned.
• Be confident in setting and maintaining clear, kind boundaries.
• Be committed to developing a strong, supportive relationship with the child.
• Have a flexible and proactive attitude to meeting a range of emotional and learning needs.
• Have excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
Desirable (but not essential):
• Understanding of ADHD and/or attachment needs.
• Experience working with children with these additional needs.

The successful candidate will have a relevant qualification (eg NVQ2 or equivalent) and/or experience and knowledge of working with Primary age children or children who have Special Educational Needs.
Wimbledon Chase is a busy three form entry primary school and each year group consists of three classes with 30 children in each class. There is an excellent team of teachers, learning support assistants and classroom assistants who work in this year group and successful candidate will find themselves well supported. The school also has a Speech Therapist who is in school two days a week and an Occupational Therapist who attends one day a week.
