Adult Critical Care Unit

Band 5 Staff Nurse in Adult Critical Care Unit (ACCU)

We are excited to invite applications for the Band 5 Staff Nurse post to join our world-class Adult Cardiac Critical Care Unit (ACCU) at St Bartholomew’s Hospital Heart Centre. This is a unique opportunity to rotate across three critical care units, each caring for a diverse range of patients, including:
• Post-operative cardiothoracic and thoracic patients
• Heart Attack Centre patients
• Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) patients
• Vascular patients
• Cancer patients

Your professional development is a priority for us, and we offer opportunities to undertake courses such as ILS, ALS, CALS, BSc, MSc, and even PhD programmes. We also support nurse-led research, fully backed by our Director of Research and Development.

This role will involve shift patterns of long days, nights and bank holidays to meet the service requirements of the ACCU.

Assess, plan, provide, and evaluate skilled evidence-based care for critically ill patients (L2 & L3). Ensuring quality care and patient safety are paramount.

Support and develop colleagues by mentoring and assessing their skills.

Promote practice development within Critical Care.

Fulfil Local/Trust requirements in specified audit or project work.

Maintain a safe working environment, complying with Health and Safety regulations, Environmental Health Act, and attending mandatory training.

Provide skilled support to medical staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
