Overbury Estates are looking for an Estimator with a sharp eye for detail and a flair for strategic bidding to help us secure and shape the future of our growing portfolio.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role that sits at the heart of how we win work. You’ll lead on tender submissions, cost planning, and risk reviews – working closely with our MD, commercial team, and project leads to bring smart, compelling bids to life. Whether it’s a heritage refurbishment or a sustainable new build, you’ll be instrumental in setting the tone for how we deliver excellence from day one. If you’re commercially astute, confident with numbers and words, and ready to take ownership of a key role within a tight-knit, ambitious team – we’d love to hear from you.
The role is Kent-based with flexibility for hybrid working where applicable
Who We Are
At Overbury Estates, we are a forward-thinking construction firm specialising in residential and corporate projects, including conversions, redevelopments and new builds. We combine traditional craftsmanship with innovative solutions to deliver high-quality, reliable results. Our team thrives on turning complex ideas into reality - on time, on budget and above expectations.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who, alongside the key criteria below, will sign up to our values:
• Client-focused: Every project is tailored to meet individual client goals.
• Detail-driven: Quality assurance and precision is key and at the heart of what we do.
• Collaborative: We believe trust is the foundation of any great team. It brings us together, strengthens communication and helps us work smarter and more effectively as one.
• Agile: We’re not afraid to challenge the norm and seek smarter ways to build.
• Community-rooted: We genuinely care about the communities we work in. We actively invest in our people, support local partnerships and look for ways to give back because strong communities build stronger futures.
Key responsibilities:
• Lead the preparation, submission, and coordination of all tender and bid documents across the company’s diverse project portfolio.
• Research market opportunities, tender portals, frameworks, and procurement channels to generate a consistent pipeline of bid opportunities.
• Undertake detailed quantity take-offs, pricing, and preliminary costing of works including refurbishment, conversions, new builds, and specialist projects.
• Prepare cost plans and value engineering options at pre-contract stage.
• Draft, review and enhance narrative content to reflect Overbury Estates’ values, experience, and capabilities across residential, commercial, and public sectors.
• Work cross-functionally with project managers, directors, designers, and subcontractors to ensure bids are technically sound and operationally deliverable.
• Maintain a tracker of all live and historic bids with performance metrics including win/loss ratios.
Key requirements:
• Experienced in a Quantity Surveying or Estimating role, ideally with a strong tendering focus.
• Proven success in managing competitive bids within the construction and refurbishment sectors.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong commercial acumen and understanding of construction procurement.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines under pressure.
Our Offer
The more diverse our workforce, the better we can adapt to and reflect the needs of our customers. We welcome applications from all backgrounds.
We offer a wide range of benefits at Overbury Estates, dependant on your role or business area.
