Summary
This is a development opportunity for candidates that may lack some of the essential criteria for the Send Tutor role but have the potential to gain them through study and a structured development programme. The trainee role is a reduction of the full Send Tutor duties that provides time and space to study and benefit from the mentoring of experienced staff.
The Trainee Send Tutor (TTS) role will last for be for a set period of time. During which the successful applicant must gain the required Level 5 teaching qualification and successfully complete their individual development plan. The TTS will progress into a full Send Tutor role when they have completed their teaching qualification and development plan. If they are unsuccessful they will revert back to their substantial role.
You will be responsible for delivering individual learning programmes to a small group of young adults with special education needs. Most learners will be working at pre-entry levels and have sensory support and complex communication support needs. You will take on the responsibility for assessing, planning, teaching and recording progress with the guidance and support of experienced mentors.

Key responsibilities;
To undertake development activities under the guidance of experienced mentors and other colleagues
Update and improve your knowledge of specialist educational research to develop evidence based practice
Motivate and inspire learners to promote achievement and develop their skills to enable progression into adulthood
Plan and deliver effective learning programmes for diverse groups or individuals in a safe and inclusive environment
Promote the benefits of technology and support learners in its use
Your required skills and experiences:
To hold or work towards a Level 3 Award in Education and Training Experience in an Education environment supporting learners with SEND
Communicates effectively, inter-personally and in writing
Work flexibly in a range of settings.
Support learners wellbeing and care needs
Willingness to work with learners who may present challenging behaviour
Experience in teaching environment
Working with learners with complex needs
