Maternity support workers are central to quality care and information provision working alongside midwives and the wider professional teams to achieve excellence in maternity care.

We are seeking enthusiastic, hard-working, flexible individuals to assist us to provide the best care at all times. We have a a mixture of antenatal, postnatal and birthing wards where our support workers can work. The role can include duties such as breastfeeding support, maternal observations, stocking up the ward area and some cleaning duties.If you feel you have the qualities to suit the role and would like to make a difference, then consider joining our excellent service.

This job is for a maternity support worker within the maternity ultrasound department at the John Radcliffe Hospital. You will be given a rotational contract and may be asked to work flexibly depending upon the service needs,

Please note: This role is 7.5 hour days Monday - Saturday. based at the John Radcliffe. This role is not eligible for overseas sponsorship.

All new starters unless transferring internally within the Trust, will commence employment as a Band 2 Maternity Support Worker. Upon completion of mandatory training, Care Certificate and local competencies, staff will be uplifted to a Band 3 grade.

As a member of the maternityteamyou will support andclosely workwith registered midwives to deliver ahighstandardofcaretowomeninacaringandsafeenvironment.Toworkaspartofthewider teamindevelopingandmaintainingservicesprovidedtowomenandcontributetothesafe,efficientandsmooth running of the ward/clinical area. As a member of the maternity team, you will support and closely work with registered midwives and sonographers to deliver a high standard of care to women in a caring and safe environment. To work as part of the wider ward team in developing and maintaining services provided to women and contribute to the safe, efficient and smooth running of the ward/clinical area. To maintain the dignity and privacy of all women and respect their right to confidentiality.

To complete and maintain on an ongoing basis a generic and specific portfolio of clinical competencies and/or the Care Certificate as required. To review progress with line manager at regular intervals and
through the appraisal process. Understand own level of responsibility, scope of practice and accountability in relation to registered staff. All policies must also be adhered to at all times.

All new in role, Nursing Assistants, Theatre Support Workers, Maternity Support Workers and Assistant Practitioners will be expected to achieve the Care Certificate within the first 12 weeks of employment if they have not already done so through previous employment. The Care Certificate
consists of 15 standards that set out explicit learning outcomes, competences and standards of behaviour that are expected of a Nursing Assistant. The Oxford University Hospitals Support Worker Academy team deliver an enhanced and extended induction programme, this to facilitatethe training and education required to maintain quality assurance, support and guidance to ensure timely completion and compliance.
