Working closely with your colleagues, you will provide a high level of service and lead activities across the area supporting proactive water resources regulation data and information management.

The main responsibilities are:
• Water resources planning
• Abstraction Licence Strategies and Resources Assessment
• Abstraction licence assessment and regulation
• Analyse, interpret, and report on hydrometric data
• Flow modelling and analysis
• River flow data quality assurance including reviewing our monitoring network
• Leading work and assessment for water company statutory plans
• Working with customers and partners such as consultants, catchment groups and other stakeholders
• Customer enquiries and data requests
• Supporting drought incident work
• Responding to planning consultations
• Technical support into Strategic Review Options
• Mentoring and development of the team

The team

The Kent and South London Groundwater and Hydrology team promote an inclusive culture which brings together Hydrology, Hydrogeology and Water Resource specialists in a high performing and professional environment. A population of 6 million and increasing growth in the Southeast continues to challenge the balance between the natural environment and resources, with the team being primarily responsible for managing and regulating sustainable abstraction and water resources across Kent and South London.

Experience/skills required

• Academic qualifications of minimum degree level (or equivalent), desirable MSc in a relevant environmental discipline
• Extensive Hydrological experience
• Ability to produce and effectively interpret data to develop evidence
• You will be able to communicate across a wide network of audiences, having the skills to turn technical detail into compelling argument for the respective audience
• An in depth understanding of water resources and the wider EA business
• Full UK Driving Licence
