Our client is a leader in their field, designing and manufacturing specialist bearings for a range of industries. They are currently looking for a CAD Design Engineer to join their team based in South Shields on a permanent basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced CAD Design Engineer who is proficient in mechanical design and technical drawings. This will give you the opportunity to work on research and development activities for a highly successful business that in recent years celebrated it’s centenary.

You will be office based on site in South Shields, carrying out a 37-hour working week.

The CAD Design Engineer Role
As CAD Design Engineer, you will be responsible for generating bearings, as well as associated documentation in support of pre and post customer contracts.

Other duties include:
Create conceptual design work in support of bearing tenders, and detail design work for contracts and new product development
Produce and manage models and engineering drawings within the company’s computer aided design (CAD) systems
Perform bearing performance calculations using specific software
Perform structural strength of materials calculations to support bearing designs
Participate in design review meetings

About the successful CAD Design Engineer
As CAD Design Engineer, you will have a strong background in mechanical design with the ability to demonstrate knowledge of strength of materials.

Other requirements include:
You will be educated to HNC level or equivalent in mechanical engineering
Experience of designing castings, fabrications and precision machined, close-tolerance, turned and milled components.
Excellent 3D CAD modelling and 2D technical drawing skills.
