Primary Purpose
1. Support SDE Civil Structures to provide assurance to the Engineering Head and Facility Operators that design intent for nominated Nuclear Safety Implicated (NSI) is met and maintained through life to support relevant Facility Safety Cases, Safety Functional Requirements/ Functional Requirements, Operating Rules, Identified Operating Instructions, claims, arguments and evidence by:
Providing support to development of EIMT schedules and Engineering Schedules, in conjunction with Maintenance and Governance Manager (MGM).
Supporting maintenance and update of job plans to support Examination, Inspection, Maintenance, Testing (EIMT) on NSI assets and infrastructure.
Support drafting/updating relevant Design Substantiation Reports (DSRs) and Design Reports for Civil Structures.
2. Supporting review of findings from EIMT activities and evidence gathering, including audit to confirm material state of assets. (Civil Structures and Berthing Systems)
3.Gathering evidence around the initial and remaining lifespan of NSI assets to support credible through life decisions to appropriately manage ageing, degradation, and obsolescence effects.
4.Gathering evidence to enable DM to Identify upgrade or replacement requirements with consideration of cost, timescales and safety case/Facility Operator requirements including generation of business cases, project initiation documents and similar commercial documents
5.Supporting Concessions and Design Change process on NSI assets and infrastructure in accordance with NBBP08 and ACCS22 to ensure that claims, arguments and evidence made in the Facility Safety Cases are not undermined i.e., meeting the required safety criteria (including the effects of environmental and external stimuli), the ALARP requirement, and the necessary levels of performance, behaviour and integrity etc.
6.Supporting retention and management of lifetime records and technical information in accordance with MGM direction.
7.Engaging with appropriate Babcock or third-party Design/Technical Authority representatives as necessary.
8.Support Structures and Berthing Systems section in specific tasking as directed by line manager e.g. TXB Civils upgrades, TXB Berthing Aid Replacement, 3 Basin works.
9.Understand and contribute to NSSM managed committees e.g. NESC, DAC, JPRB including acting as technical secretary where appropriate.
10.Support the production and upkeep of Design Authority documentation suite.
11.Nuclear Emergency Response Organisation Responsibilities – Supporting site emergency response as a member of a cell.
Secondary Purpose
Provide support to other nuclear and non-nuclear tasks and projects as directed by the line manager.
Represent the section on nuclear safety committees, sub-committees and working groups as directed by line manager.
Provide support to apprentices and Development Posts.
Complete learning/qualifications as directed by line management, including gaining experience within other areas of Design Authority/wider business.
(Remote working within this role is something that can be discussed at interview stages or with your future line manager if you are found successful.)
