Summary

Salary: To be discussed (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Hours: Part-time/ Full time, Monday–Friday, 08:20 – 15:50 (Session times: 08:45–11:45, 12:20–15:20), plus meetings, term time
Contract Type: Permanent, subject to a probationary period

Chestnuts Pre-School is a registered charity, established in 1984, and is managed by a committee of parents whose children attend the group. We operate from our self-contained premises in Woosehill, providing high-quality early years education for children aged 2.5 to 5 years.

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated proactive, and self-starting Pre-School Manager to lead our team and create an inclusive, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment for all children.
This role involves:
• Providing safe, high-quality education and care for pre-school children.
• Ensuring legal and statutory compliance within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
• Leading and managing staff on a day-to-day basis, including appraisals and training.
• Overseeing curriculum planning, assessment procedures, and promoting play-based learning.
• Working closely with parents, external agencies, and feeder schools.
• Acting as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to maintain a safe environment.
• Taking initiative and driving continuous improvement within the pre-school.
Requirements
Essential:
• Minimum Level 3 qualification in Childcare and Education.
• At least 3 years’ experience working within an EYFS setting.
• Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and proactively, taking ownership of key responsibilities.
• Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and compliance with Ofsted regulations.
Desirable:
• Level 5 qualification in Childcare or currently studying towards it.
• Experience leading inclusive practice and supporting children with diverse learning needs.
• Experience working with external agencies such as LADO, Ofsted, and local authorities.
• Knowledge of SEND policies and strategies for inclusion.
