Summary

Job Title: Mobile Mechanical Engineer
Location: York & surrounding area
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent (Mon-Fri, 40 hours/week + callout rota)

About the Role

Are you a skilled Mechanical Engineer with a passion for delivering high-quality maintenance and engineering services? EQUANS is seeking a Mobile Mechanical Engineer to join our North East team supporting critical Central Government sites. You'll be a key player in maintaining and enhancing mechanical and electrical building services, ensuring all plant and equipment operate safely, reliably, and efficiently.

What You'll Do
  • Perform planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of mechanical and electrical building services, including Legionella control and basic plumbing.

  • Manage routine PPM tasks via CAFM systems (e.g., Maximo) and swiftly respond to breakdowns to minimize downtime.

  • Prepare and use Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and ensure compliance with health & safety policies.

  • Lead and supervise subcontractors to maintain quality and safety standards.

  • Maintain accurate documentation, plant logs, and complete relevant paperwork promptly.

  • Support out-of-hours callouts as part of a flexible rota.

  • Provide engineering support in emergency situations to ensure operational continuity.

  • Uphold EQUANS' professional image while delivering exceptional client service.

What You Bring
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Mechanical Engineer within a Facilities Management environment.

  • City & Guilds Mechanical Engineering Services NVQ Level 2 or higher.

  • Strong fault-finding, repair, and maintenance skills across mechanical and electrical plant.

  • Excellent communication skills, confident engaging with clients and internal teams.

  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and as part of a team.

  • IT literate with experience using CAFM systems and report writing.

  • Full, clean UK driving license.

  • Commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance.

  • Flexible attitude with willingness to undertake lone working and out-of-hours duties.
