Support Services Librarian

The Support Services Librarian is responsible for the effective strategic development, management and review of the service-wide theme of health and wellbeing and the strategic management of bibliographic and administration support services, in accordance with North Lanarkshire Council policies and departmental procedures.
Key areas of work will include effectively developing, managing and co-ordinating all relevant thematic activities and resources across the authority to achieve their maximum potential, effectively managing and co-ordinating all activities within bibliographic and administration support services to achieve their maximum potential and effectiveness and bringing forward recommendations as appropriate and ensuring that sound customer care practices are implemented, especially in relation to a speedy, responsive and efficient public service
You must hold a degree in Librarianship/Information Science or relevant first degree plus post-graduate qualification in librarianship/Information science or equivalent and hold a chartership qualification. You must have substantial experience of management in the public library sector. You will have experience in dealing with the public, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a high level of self-motivation and commitment to delivering a quality customer focussed service.
You will have staff management experience, the ability to manage devolved budgets and the ability to assist and deal with a wide range of ICT packages and platforms, including social media.
The post holder will be required to travel throughout North Lanarkshire.
The successful candidate will be subject to a criminal records check provided by Disclosure Scotland.
Location: Motherwell Library
Work Pattern: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm
