Summary

Please note that the advertised salary for this position is subject to a pending pay award. The final salary will be adjusted in line with the nationally agreed pay award.

We are looking to recruit a School crossing Patrol officer to join our Road Safety team.

The purpose of the post is to ensure the safety of children crossing the road at a designated point between specified times without detriment to the welfare of other road users.

On a day to day basis you will:

Arrive at your crossing location on time wearing the correct uniform and with the stop sign;
Stop pedestrians from crossing the road until it is safe for them to do so, once you have ensured all traffic has stopped moving in either direction;
Carry out the Council’s policy with regard to the School Crossing Patrol service which includes Health and Safety procedures;
Maintain control over the children who are awaiting the School Crossing Patrol’s instruction to cross the highway.
We are looking to recruit an individual who is reliable and confident, a good time keeper and communicator able to adapt quickly and appropriately to changing situations, who is confident working in the highway.

Someone with the ability to supervise children and show a caring attitude towards them, the ability to work without supervision, and someone who is able to communicate clearly and pleasantly at all times.

In addition to the above, we require an individual with a degree of fluency in the Welsh language.
