Are you a passionate and nurturing teacher who believes in every child's potential? We’re looking for a dedicated SEND Teacher to join a thriving specialist school in the Essex area.
This full-time, permanent role is ideal for someone with experience or a strong interest in working with students with Autism and complex learning needs. The school is a purpose-built environment tailored to support neurodiverse learners, and you’ll be part of a caring multidisciplinary team who share a commitment to inclusive education.
You’ll lead a small class group, delivering a personalised and engaging curriculum that focuses on academic, emotional, and social progress. The setting is calm, well-resourced, and guided by clear routines and therapeutic support structures that enable pupils to thrive.
You’ll be supported through ongoing professional development and encouraged to bring your creativity and empathy to every lesson. In return, you’ll be rewarded with a competitive salary aligned with M1–M6, and the chance to work in a team that genuinely values what you do.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver differentiated teaching to pupils with Autism and additional needs
Create a safe and structured classroom environment
Adapt and personalise the curriculum to meet individual EHCP targets
Collaborate with therapists, support staff, and families
Use data and observations to plan next steps for learning
Manage behaviour positively and support emotional regulation
Engage in whole-school training and SEND best practice
Qualifications and Experience
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience working with children with SEND, particularly Autism
Knowledge of specialist teaching methods (e.g. TEACCH, PECs, sensory integration) is a plus
Strong classroom management and nurturing approach
Excellent communication with students, staff, and parents
A reflective and resilient mindset, open to learning and collaboration
SENDirect and our partner school are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All applicants will undergo enhanced DBS checks and must provide two satisfactory references. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available.
If this feels like a role you can thrive in, apply today.
