Summary

At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose – to improve people’s lives.

This post attracts a welcome payment of 5% of the starting salary for the grade to enable individuals to join our permanent workforce. This is payable upon successful completion of your probationary period and is subject to eligibility criteria.

About the Team

As a Chef/Cook, you'll be the backbone of our culinary operations, whipping up mouth-watering meals and ensuring our clients are treated to nutritious delights. Your culinary creations will be the highlight of their day!

About the Role

Based in Twerton, Bath, you will be delivering a nutritious mid-day meal to the customers living within the extra care service at Avondown House, or to people visiting any of the day services. Opportunity awaits as you bring your catering knowledge to different community groups.

This isn't just a job; it's a commitment to making a difference. Embrace a permanent position offering 21 hours per week, working on a two-week fixed rota. That includes weekends and bank holidays – because great food and care don't take a day off!

We also have a ‘Bank team’ and we welcome successful applicants of permanent positions to also be part of this team. This will allow you the flexibility to pick up additional hours to fit around you and your personal commitments.

As our services expand and develop, there may be an opportunity in the future to increase contractual hours or expand your role. We are looking for great people with energy and enthusiasm to grow with us, if this is you then apply.

Essentials and desirables:

Food Handling & Hygiene certificate
Teamwork and collaboration
Good communication skills
Flexibility and adaptability
Experience in catering environments.
Willingness to support a range of services and partners.
Knowledge about dietary needs for older adults (desirable, but not essential)
