PART TIME TEACHER - SCIENCE AND HUMANITIES
LOCATION - NEWTOWN, POWYS

We are looking for a part time science and humanities teacher to join our team based within the residential home in Newtown .

Responsibilities with the role include :

To fully participate in the life of the school community, promoting and supporting its ethos, values and aims;

To contribute to, work within and promote the policies and procedures of the school and the organisation;

To have high expectations of all, and lead by example;
To observe professional standards and work effectively as a member of the school team; contributing positively to effective working relations within and without the school;
To contribute to the evaluation, monitoring and development of the school curriculum, and to assist in the process of development and positive change within the school community;
To have a good, contemporary knowledge of effective practice in teaching, learning and assessment; a creative and dynamic approach to active learning strategies and independent learning skills; and a commitment to positive outcomes for all learners;
To demonstrate an ability to build positive relationships with learners, maintaining clear boundaries for behaviour and high expectations at all times;
To demonstrate an understanding as to development of personalised learning experiences and promotion of inclusive practices;
To engage actively in performance evaluation and professional development to ensure development of professional skills and practice;
To comply with and promote safe working practices for yourself and others in accordance with the school’s Safeguarding and Health & Safety policies.

The post requires you to plan, prepare and deliver Science lessons which are good or outstanding to pupils across Key Stages 3 & 4.

It further requires you to develop a consistently positive attitude in all aspects of school life; form and preserve a close and caring relationship with the pupils being aware of their individual needs; give, in conjunction with the multi-professional care and therapy team, clear guidelines so that pupils know what is expected of them and encourage self-regulation by giving consistent messages, boundaries and reasons for rewards and sanctions.

Deliver the Science curriculum across Key Stages 3 & 4 and towards learners achieving a range of accreditation including Entry Level and GCSE;

Deliver the History curriculum across Key Stages 3 & 4 and towards learners achieving a range of accreditation including Entry Level and GCSE;

To plan and deliver an appropriate, broad, balanced, differentiated and challenging curriculum to all learners, as appropriate to their individual needs;

To assess, record and report on all aspects of the progress and development of pupils in all of the above subjects; contribute to raising standards of pupil attainment;

To monitor learner progress through regular formative and summative assessment processes and promotion of AfL strategies embedded into teaching and learning;

To prepare subject development plans, rationales and resource audits for your subject areas; contribute to whole school planning activities;

To prepare, disseminate and monitor a framework for the promotion and development of literacy skills across all areas of the curriculum;

To ensure that Pupils are entered at the most appropriate levels of examinations for their abilities and to ensure that the school maintains its exam centre accreditation;

With colleagues develop and coordinate an effective baseline assessment process in order to assess pupils on entry and to inform individual education plans and teaching, learning and assessment programmes; To play an integral role in the development of targets for Individual Education Plans and Individual Behaviour Plans for each learner;

To liaise with other members of the multi-professional team in creating a consistent and meaningful cross-curricular programme which can be fully integrated into the pupil’s experience of care, therapy and education creating a holistic approach to learning;
