We are looking to recruit Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychologists to join some of our inpatient wards within the Older Peoples Care Unit (OPCU). The posts are be based at Highbury Hospital and or Blossomwood and are on different wards. The wards provide care for people with mental health needs and dementia, and there will be opportunity to work on both types of wards if desired. We currently have several vacancies that could be recruited to 0.5 wte posts, or the opportunity to recruit to a 1.0 wte post. These posts are advertised at Band 8a, however we welcome applications from applicants who are approaching qualification, newly qualified or are interested in a preceptorship arrangement.

OPCU is an established Care Unit and psychology is valued. We are engaged in several service development programmes. The Care Unit is reviewing the provision of psychologically informed care, staff training to support this work and embedding new roles to facilitate the delivery of psychological interventions. Psychologists are integral to this process, and you would support and participate in such developments.

There is a strong and developing network of Psychologists across the Trust, and within the care unit. We have relationships with professional training courses and academic institutions, which provides further research, supervision and teaching opportunities.

The inpatient wards provide hospital-based assessment and interventions for older people with a variety of mental health needs and people with a diagnosis of dementia. The wards also have links with the Dementia Outreach Service (DOS) and the Intensive Home Treatment Teams (IHTT).

Clinical work within the team will include providing direct psychological and neuropsychological assessment and interventions. In addition, you would support the delivery of psychologically informed care and care planning through case discussions, MDT meetings, supervision, training and consultation.

#TeamNottsHC comprises over 11,000 dedicated colleagues who #MakeADifference every day. We deliver intellectual disability, mental health, community health, forensic, and offender healthcare services across Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, and South Yorkshire. Our care is provided from over 200 sites, spanning community locations, acute settings, and secure environments, including prisons.

We are one of the largest mental health and community Trusts in the East Midlands and one of Nottinghamshire's biggest employers. We also host national and regional services, such as the National High Secure Deaf Service and the Nottingham Centre for Transgender Health.

We offer a variety of employee-led staff networks, including Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) groups, the Green Champions network, the Freedom to Speak Up network, the Health and Wellbeing Champions network, and the Menopause Champions network. These networks play a vital role in supporting our diverse workforce and promoting a culture of inclusivity.

The health and wellbeing of our colleagues is a top priority. We invest significantly in this through our in-house occupational health and staff counselling services, supported by a dedicated Health and Wellbeing team.

The Trust is committed to reducing its carbon emissions, with a specialised Energy and Environmental team working to ensure compliance with environmental legislation, enhance our environmental performance, and achieve our net-zero commitment

The role requires a qualified Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychologist who will have specialist skills for working with older people. You will work closely with service users and carers and with colleagues across the OPCU.

Please see the attached Job Description and Person Specification for more detail.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.
