As a successful Inclusion Practitioner, you will provide inspirational learning support to small groups of learners and on a 1:1 basis. This will require a holistic approach to highlight specific learning needs and improving learner skills. Your focus will be on ALS, Maths and English, leading to employability outcomes, with effective target setting to meet individual needs.You will be a passionate, creative and empathetic towards our learners and be able to offer knowledge and guidance to our learners.As an Inclusion Practitioner, you will be working across the whole prison estate, on all wings where education is delivered.MK College will treat all applicants fairly and with respect, irrespective of their background, disability or any other individual characteristic. Prisoners located in these areas are encouraged to engage with the education offer.The College team typically delivers its programmes in two main College areas of the prison; 16 classrooms in total (8 in Parkhurst (PK) and 8 in Albany (AY)).There are also vocational workshops; Painting and Decorating in PK (PT) and Painting and Decorating in AY (FT).The education delivery hours are Monday to Thursday 9.25am - 11.35am, 13.40pm - 16.50pm and on Fridays 8.25am - 11.35am, with most staff working on-site 8:00am - 5:00pm each day and 8:00am - 12:30pm on Fridays. Class sizes typically range from 8-12 learners.The majority of learners study on a part time basis, combining other prison activities with their college studies. The department also supports learners undertaking Distance Learning and Open University courses.We provide Outreach learning opportunities for hesitant learners and non-reader/low level learners via a network of Learning & Skills Peer Supports and the Reading and More class.HMP Isle of Wight’s focus is firmly fixed on reducing reoffending and preventing future victims of crime by preparing offenders for their release through accredited intervention programmes, skill and vocational based training and education, in a pro social environment.Courses at HMP Isle of Wight include Maths, English, IT, Business courses at L1, L2, L3, Art, Mentoring, ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), Painting and Decorating at L1, L2, L3, Open University, Reading and More and Learning Support.Parking is free at HMP Isle of Wight with ample availability across the site. The post code for the Parkhurst site is PO30 5NX and for Albany is PO30 5RS.There are bus stops directly outside the prison sites with route 9 from Ryde to Newport and route 1 from Cowes to Newport.Small lockers are available, particularly for those using public transport, for storing prohibited items such as mobile phone/tobacco products.
