About the Employer
I am the employer and mother to my young son who has a diagnosis of Autism, epilepsy, PICA and learning disabilities. and as such has been offered direct payments to enable him some 1-1 support to assist him on social outings. My son has limited vocabulary as considered nonverbal however this has recently improved and he is able to say odd words and can communicate with others about what he wants or needs. He has a very limited diet and due to his PICA eats toilet paper. He is a happy boy with a kind nature and sunny personality.
Some of his behaviours are obsessive/compulsive and he requires all personal care support. He wears nappies and will require support and prompt to use the toilet. My son has limited communication or danger awareness which makes him very vulnerable, He will need someone who will be able to always supervise him and provide him with the attention and stimulation he requires. He loves activities which are sensory led and enjoys being outdoors, swimming, going to parks, the beach and farms . I am seeking a PA who will be able to support him in the community to access activities he enjoys. The PA support will also include opportunities to access social activities in holiday times, within the community with 1-1 supervision. This will allow him time away from home will promote his independence.
Summary of duties TASKS REQUIRED TO BE COMPLETED OR SUPPORTED BY THE PA:
The PA will be required to support my son, providing him friendship, support and supervision in his chosen activities The successful personal assistant will be required to support my son in accessing the community, engaging in new activities and experiences wherever possible. They should be outgoing, friendly, patient, enthusiastic and energetic, which will support in developing his social skills and help build his independence and confidence. Support my son to access activities of his choice such as:
• Going for walks, to the beach and parks
• Engaging in activities of his choice such as soft plays
• He enjoys trains so going for metro rides
• Introduction to activities in the outdoors
• Going to parks or farms
• Encourage and engage my son in trying new things and going to new places
• 1-1 support and supervision due to his vulnerability and needs My sons needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this.
You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

About the Role
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Support and/or prompt with personal care. This may include toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, getting dressed.
• Support and/or prompt the individual to access sporting and leisure activities.
• Assist and encourage socialisation, participating in activities.
• Promote and encourage friendships and independence.
• Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.
The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.
You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.
Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered).
Transport Requirement:
Car driver and car owner – must have business insurance.
Required Skills:
• Be honest, reliable, trustworthy and punctual.
• Maintain confidentiality and respect privacy, including the prohibited use of social media in relation to the job role.
• To be able to work on own initiative.
• To be able to follow instructions accurately.
• Be patient, supportive and caring.
• Have good listening skills and be able to provide non-judgemental emotional support.
• Be empathetic.
• Previous caring experience is not essential, however you should have a genuine interest in supporting people with a disability/illness to achieve their goals.
• Flexibility would be an advantage as the hours may be variable.
• Have a lively personality.
When you are Required:
Hours per week: 10 hours per week school holidays only (13 Some flexibility required) Days and times can be agreed and confirmed week on week between employer and employee

• Wednesday,
• Thursday,
• Friday,
• Saturday,
Dates and times are flexible and can be discussed at interview.
