Job Title: SEND Team Manager

Pay rate: £500 per day PAYE



Enhanced DBS Check required for this role

Must be able to travel using public transport or other available means, or possess a valid UK driving licence with access to a personal or pool car.



The role:

An experienced SEND Team Leader is required to lead and manage a team to deliver high-quality, legally compliant SEND statutory processes and positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people (0-25), ensuring effective supervision, collaborative multi-agency planning, and adherence to local and national inclusion policies. You will maintain up-to-date legal knowledge to inform robust decision-making and continuous improvement of guidance and practice.

Key requirements:

Support Head of SEND Assessment & Review to ensure statutory EHC assessments and placements align with policy and promote inclusive education
Lead EHC assessment process with rigorous decision-making to avoid unnecessary assessments and meet deadlines
Coordinate and monitor Annual Review processes within statutory timelines, collaborating with schools and providers
Manage and direct SEND officers to deliver high-quality, compliant work and foster strong partnerships
Collaborate with SEND Managers to support staff training, development, and wellbeing
Ensure accurate data entry and reporting for performance and finance teams
Oversee financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Council procedures
Maintain team compliance with legislation, policies, and equality/diversity standards
Drive continuous improvement by reviewing processes and implementing effective solutions



What the client is looking for:

Professional qualification in law, public admin, education, social care, or health
Management qualification or commitment to management training
Degree level or equivalent qualification
SEND qualification or proven extensive SEND experience
Significant experience supervising staff and involved in recruitment
Strong decision-making skills within legal and financial frameworks
Deep knowledge of SEND legislation, government initiatives, and related regulations
Expertise supporting schools/settings to meet SEND educational needs
Skilled in applying thresholds and criteria fairly and transparently
Performance management and quality assurance expertise
Committed to evidence-based practice and diversity awareness
Member of a relevant professional body
Valid UK driving licence with access to a vehicle
