What skills and experience we're looking for
The successful candidate will have good organisation, communication and interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate empathy with young people who have a range of learning and physical needs. A ‘can do’ approach, flexibility and the ability to problem solve are important. The Piggott School is accessible and fully inclusive, with students attending lessons across the whole of our busy site.
Although the main focus of this role is physical care support, the role will also include supporting students in the classroom. The successful candidate will work as part of a team to deliver support to a number of students with varying needs.
Responsibilities will include organising a timetable of support for students with personal care needs as well as delivering the support, including toileting and physiotherapy (training will be provided). Candidates will need to be able to effectively liaise with external agencies, parents and teaching staff. Learning Support Assistants also need to provide effective support in the classroom, ensuring strong academic progress for all.
What the school offers its staff
We can offer you a friendly and supportive work environment, with happy staff and enthusiastic children.
Commitment to safeguarding
This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All posts are subject to Satisfactory Disclosure Clearance, an online check and a 'prohibition from teaching' check will be completed for all applicants.
