For further information, please refer to the Job Description and person Specification These responsibilities will be carried out under the guidance of the superintendent radiographers. Clinical Responsibility To adhere to local rules relating to radiation protection. To comply with written systems of work which includes correct identification of patients in accordance with RMH IR(ME)R 2000 Employers Procedures. To practice the Care Certificate To communicate effectively and empathetically with patients and their escorts prior to, during and after their radiotherapy appointment. The monitoring and recording of patients vital signs (including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation, respiration rate) reporting any abnormal results. The measuring and recording of patient height and weight. Performing venepuncture and venous blood sampling after training and assessment of competency. Undertaking clinical tasks relevant to the specific clinical area following competency sign off, for example, ECG, urinalysis, blood glucose, MRSA screening swabs, recording of allergies on EPIC and other clinical tasks where training/competency sign off are deemed appropriate for a healthcare support worker. Administrative & Clerical Responsibility To handle all enquiries, in person or by telephone, including the passage of information in a timely manner. To record patient attendance and notify relevant staff when patients arrive. To assist clerical staff in making bookings and scheduling patients for examination, considering clinical priority and scheduling accordingly. To undertake daily equipment checks and document compliance or report repairs/faulty equipment as necessary, e.g. resuscitation trolley, oxygen and suction equipment, fridge temperatures and emergency equipment.
