About the role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quality Engineer (MEPH) to join our outstanding Major Projects team to work at our Old Oak Common development in London – join us and be part of the largest construction project in the UK.

HS2s new c. 1 billion Old Oak Common station will become the UKs best-connected rail station once completed. Our Balfour Beatty VINCI SYTRA joint venture will be responsible for the final design, construction, and commissioning of the station in Northwest London.

Upon completion, the new station will boast six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line. Old Oak Common will also provide highspeed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland, and the North, as well as direct services to three major airports. Incorporating passenger and retail facilities, the new station will provide an exceptional customer experience for both passengers and visitors to the station.

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Senior Quality Engineer to join our team and lead the management of Quality for the MEPH work of the Old Oak Common Station project.

As a MEPH Senior Quality Engineer, you will be pivotal in ensuring the highest standards of quality are met across the MEPH Work Packages assigned to you. Overseeing all quality-related activities and documentation, whilst ensuring all documentation is produced on schedule, addressing and resolving non-conformances promptly.

What you'll be doing

Some key responsibilities will be:

  • Ensure quality management is given the highest priority in the delivery of their works to achieve Right First Time.
  • Act as main point of contact for all quality related topics within your Work Packages
  • Support sub-contractor in the development of quality documentation and ensure the review of these documents.

  • Check and inspect the works during progress and on completion to ensure that it has been constructed in line with the Requirements.
  • Ensure Non-conformances are raised in a timely manner by the sub-contractors, and managed effectively to ensure their closure within the agreed timeframe.
  • Support the Quality Manager in maintaining metrics and dashboards to measure performance of Quality.

  • Support the Quality Team in the ongoing maintenance of the Quality Management System and in promoting Quality on the project.

Who we're looking for

You will have the following:

  • Practical experience in quality management within the construction industry, preferably on a project-based organization
  • Ability to build strong relationships with the project team members, suppliers, client representatives, and other stakeholders.
  • Technical knowledge and experience relevant to at least one MEPH discipline
  • Able to communicate effectively orally and written and influence others including senior management
