A Vacancy at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.


We are looking for a dynamic paediatric trainee who would like to develop an interest in endocrinology and work in the new Children and Young People Gender Service (CYPGS) in London.

You are invited to apply to a Senior Clinical Fellow (ST6-8) post to work between the NHS Children and Young People’s Gender Service (CYPGS, London) based at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) and Children and Young People’s Endocrinology Department, based at University College London Hospital (UCLH), available as 1 FTE (less than full time equivalent available). We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team to commence on 3rd March 2025, for 6-12 months, with the possibility of extension subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Paediatric training to ST4+ or equivalent is a requirement. Previous experience in paediatric endocrinology, adolescent health and gender is highly desirable but not essential. The post holder will be expected to support the Children and Young People endocrine service; for inpatients, endocrine testing in day-care and outpatient clinics as well as supporting the NHS England’s Children and Young People’s Gender Service (CYPGS), providing specialist gender related care and support for children and young people

Their duty will be to provide clinical care and input to the NHS Children and Young People’s Gender Service (London) clinics, including providing a paediatric opinion as part of a multidisciplinary team for children and young people, complex history taking, formulation and development of management plans, and to support and develop service evaluation and research projects within the service in line with Cass recommendations and NHSE specifications, with a specific focus on safeguarding, including developing proposals, seeking ethical approval and funding, gaining consent, collecting and analysing data and presenting and publishing work. This will help develop the evidence base to understand the nature and needs of young people with gender related distress and develop management and treatment strategies to best support them.



This job will be 50% based in Paediatric Endocrinology including gender clinics at UCLH and 50% based in CYPGS. It is possible to pick up ‘on call’ work in General Paediatrics as locums.
