Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen with NELFT Estates Directorate for the appointment of an Assistant Director Leases and Property. The Trust has an exciting portfolio of leases properties across North East London, Essex and Kent comprising of 133 owned and leased premises.

The post holder shall be nearly or registered Chartered Engineer, with membership of an appropriate Professional Engineering Institution, including CIBSE, IHEEM and or the IET . The appointment requires a strong background in building services mechanical & electrical engineering gained in healthcare environment or similar industry, including life sciences.

The postholder will be required to operate the full range of operational Estates services in a very busy Trust. These services include fire safety, electrical & mechanical engineering, plan preventative maintenance, helpdesk operation, the full range of compliance and statutory maintenance functions.

The senior roll will require outstanding managerial capabilities and the ability to work in a Estates Team of senior managers across the full range of Estates services, problem solving and finding helpful solutions is a fundamental.

The post holder will achieve the role by:
• Effective leadership, management and co-ordination of all capital programmes to support the Trust to deliver the Estates Strategy and be responsible for the delivery of all capital programmes within the Trust. The estate’s capital function has a crucial contribution to make to NELFT. It demands a dedicated, professional and highly effective level of leadership and commitment from its officer.
• This post will be a senior member of the Estates Management Team. The postholder will ensure consistent management of all properties, leases and contracts. This generally includes oversight of the contract management process, as well as development of specific standards for bidding and submission, contract negotiations and document management.
• The postholder will be responsible for long term strategic planning of estate in relation to all properties, leases and contracts making recommendations for property disposal in line with the Trust Strategy.
• The postholders role in the contract development process requires close collaboration with various departments, including clinical operations, project management, account management, business operations and finance.
• The postholder will also be responsible for space planning and utilisation supporting maximising the use of our estates across the Trust portfolio.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place great importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks, including mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,714 to a maximum of £5,941 p.a. pro rata for part time).
